PPM OPENS ADVANCED POLYMERS MANUFACTURING PLANT IN CHINA TO SERVE EXPANDING BASE OF GLOBAL CUSTOMERS

Pittsburgh Plastics Manufacturing Inc. (PPM) has established operations in Chang Zhou, China, about 120 miles from Shanghai. PPM will manufacture safety, medical and foot care products for customers throughout Europe and North America.
“This initiative enhances our competitiveness by expanding our manufacturing and distribution capacities,” says James E. Zona, PPM’s chairman and CEO. “It also allows us to be closer than ever to key customers in new markets.”
Zona expects PPM’s China operations to increase demand for the company’s private-label foam insoles, gel insoles, hot & cold pack therapy products, memory foam cushions, medical rehab therapy pads and mobility padding. PPM will manufacture those products using these technologies: compression molding, injection molding, RF welding, ultrasonic sealing, polymer processing and thermoforming. The company also offers product design and prototyping services at its Chang Zhou location.
PPM uses advanced polymers and foams to design and produce customized cushioning products for medical, safety and foot care applications on a contract manufacturing basis. The company operates a 91,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Butler, Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh) and also has operations in China. The company, which was established in 1985, also maintains an international sales office in the United Kingdom.
